Fix Auto is proud to welcome two new strategic partners, Fix Auto Red Deer (Alberta) and Fix Auto Ridgetown (Ontario) to the Fix Auto family.
Fix Auto Red Deer owners Corey and Karen Desrosiers’ dedication and passion for the business is well supported by their community. Corey started in the auto body industry as a boy, working at a small town repair shop after school cleaning cars, sweeping floors, and the like. He finished his apprenticeship program and received his Journeyman Certification and Interprovincial Red Seal when he was just nineteen. Corey continued his experience performing heavy collision repairs until 1994, when he was given the opportunity to manage the shop that he had been working at for the last eight years.
In the fall of 2000, Corey made the plunge and purchased Independent Paint and Body, a shop in Red Deer that has been in business since the late '70s. He, along with his wife Karen worked diligently and grew the business into the successful shop that it is today.
“In the spring of 2012 there was an opportunity to join the Fix Auto Network,” says Corey. “I looked at all that Fix Auto had to offer and decided that this was the best network to join. I was tired of not being recognized by the major insurance companies that were directing work to my competition and noticed that my sales and market share were shrinking. My company has worked hard and is recognized as one of the best collision repair facilities in Central Alberta. We have been in the top three shops in the Red Deer area for the last 12 years running.”
The core values and business model of Fix Auto Red Deer make them a perfect fit with Fix Auto.
Fix Auto also welcomes a new strategic partner in Ontario: Fix Auto Ridgetown, owned and operated by Greg’s Custom & Collision. Owner Greg Bain has worked for 18 years in the trade, starting as most do – sweeping, cleaning, sandblasting, and performing simple repairs. In 1997 he signed an apprenticeship when he was hired by Thompson-Hartle Auto Body in Fenelon Falls, where he learned the “no compromise for quality” attitude. While gaining hands-on experience, Greg attended Centennial College and earned his license in 2000. He remained grateful for his time at Thompson-Hartle but his sense of adventure moved him to Chatham-Kent to try something new: quality repairs in a production atmosphere.
After seven years Greg’s entrepreneurial spirit drove him to open his own shop. Within two years, he outgrew his small shop and moved to his current location in 2009. He not only managed to open, run, and grow in a down economy, he managed to expand as well. Next step for Greg’s Custom & Collision was to join a network. “Fix offered training, image, preparation, and uniformity, which fit my needs to feel prepared for the future of the industry. Fix Auto provided the necessary tools to make improvements to my shop where it needed them the most.”
In other news from the compnay, Fix Auto is proud to welcome Brooker Aitken to the team as strategic partner development manager for Alberta. Brooker has close to a decade of experience in the industry, starting in 2004 as a detailer and aftermarket accessory installer. While Brooker’s passion continued to be custom imports, he found himself learning the auto body trade. His career expanded into custom body work and then progressed with MAK Customs as Parts manager. Following this he first joined the Fix Auto team as a Business Development Manager with Fix Auto Fort MacLeod. To complete his industry knowledge and experience, Brooker also managed the Lethbridge, AB area for an independent appraisal company.
Peter Polito, General Manager of Alberta, states “We are excited to have Brooker on our team. His focus on franchisee operations will continue to offer an elevated experience for our customers."
