The Ontario Ministry of Environment has announced that the pricing deadline for applications to be received from auto refinish shops in Ontario is now November 18, 2012.
If your collision repair or autobody shop (where painting takes place in a spray booth) does not possess a current EASR Registration (Environmental Activity Sector Registry) or a Certificate of Approval for water-based paints, issued by the Ontario Ministry of Environment, you should act immediately in applying for this document.
After November 18, 2012, the province’s application fee will rise from ZERO dollars to $1,190.
Shops are urged to go online and apply (currently at no charge) for the EASR, if the shop meets the qualifying requirements, as soon as possible at www.serviceontario.ca.
For shops unable to handle this process or who need someone to do the application work, please contact HARA, CIIA as soon as possible at 1 866 309 4272. The association charges $300 plus HST for members and $500 plus HST for non-members to do this work.
HARA/CIIA Executive Director John Norris urges bodyshops, if they do not already possess the registration or a waterborne paint Certificate of Approval, to act quickly.
